Decorated cardboard boats will race across a lake in northern Minnesota this weekend.
The Cardboard Boat Regatta will be held Saturday on Shagawa Lake in Ely.
The local VFW post is organizing the event. The group will be racing a boat designed to look like a '57 Ford.
Organizer Wendy Varey says all the boats entering the race must be made of cardboard with no plastic sheeting, metal, fiberglass or wood. Only glue, tape and paint are allowed.

No motors, either.
Varey says the most creative boat gets an award. So does the boat that sinks the fastest. That's dubbed the "Titanic" award.
