The director for student affairs at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is being honored for his work on behalf of the state's veterans.
Steve Frantz has been awarded the Commander's Award for Public Service by Minnesota National Guard Adjutant Gen. Larry Shellito.
MnSCU says that since 2005, Frantz has been key in establishing veterans' centers on 45 of the system's 54 campuses and in coordinating the system's participation in dozens of events for returning soldiers.
He also helped develop higher education opportunities for returning soldiers.
In presenting the award, Shellito says Frantz showed "exceptional civilian service and support to veterans."
