Four people, including two children, are dead after police say a sport utility vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a dump truck west of Minneapolis.
Police say the crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday in Independence, in western Hennepin County.
Chief Ray McCoy of the West Hennepin Public Safety Department says two adults and a child in the Chevrolet Suburban were dead at the scene. McCoy says a second child in the SUV - a girl - was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and later died.
Names of the victims have not been released yet.
McCoy says the eastbound SUV crossed the center line on County Road 6 and crashed into the dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck and his passenger were not hurt.
