Two cousins have been charged with murder today in connection with the fatal beating of a man in Minneapolis last week.
Franklin Anthony Chosa, 25, and Jeffrey Robert Chosa, 20, both of Minneapolis, have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of Carlos Trevino, Jr. on July 25.
Trevino died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner. Another man, whose name has not been released, was injured during the incident.
A witness told police that Trevino and another man knocked on the door of a south Minneapolis apartment and asked to purchase alcohol, according to the criminal complaint.
An argument broke out when the cousins collected $20 from the two victims, but did not provide the alcohol, according to the witness.
The defendants could each face up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
