The man started to struggle and went down to the bottom of the deep end. His children ran to the front desk for help. Hotel employees responded, jumped in the pool, pulled out the victim and began CPR, authorities said.
Officials with the Minneapolis police and fire departments arrived at the hotel and began treating the man, who was unconscious and not breathing.
He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he remains Tuesday morning. Details about his condition have not been released.
Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol will be conducting an investigation into the incident, which is standard procedure after a near drowning.
