Aerosmith cancels tour, including St. Paul stop

Rock band Aerosmith announced this week it will cancel the remaining part of its summer tour -- including a concert in St. Paul -- after lead singer Steven Tyler fell from a stage earlier this month.

The accident happened during a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota on August 5. The show, part of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, occurred while Tyler, 61, was dancing during the band's "Love in an Elevator."

Doctors have advised Tyler to take the time to properly recuperate from the accident that resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches to his head.

"All of us here in the Aerosmith organization and all of the people who contribute to making our shows possible are in a state of shock," said guitarist Brad Whiteford in a statement. "We never anticipated this tour coming to such a swift and unfortunate ending. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven for a speedy recovery and return to good health."

The St. Paul concert, which included special guests ZZ Top, had been scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Xcel Energy Center. Other canceled concerts include Los Angeles, Toronto, and New York.
