More county employees in northern Minnesota might soon get sent home - to telecommute instead of coming to the office every day.
St. Louis County officials say telecommuting can save the county money and might also bring better results.
The county already has about 24 workers reporting from home as a pilot project. Now, huge budget shortfalls have prompted the county to look into expanding the project.
Office space costs from $10 to $49 per square foot each year in the county. With each cubicle taking up 60 square feet, officials say there's an opportunity for six-figure savings. ---
