Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will campaign Wednesday in Richmond with Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell.
Pawlenty is a fiscal and social conservative raising his profile within Republican circles nationally and spawning speculation of a presidential bid. He campaigned last week in New Jersey for Republican Chris Christie.
He will campaign with McDonnell in Richmond, then appear separately for him in other places across Virginia, said McDonnell spokesman J. Tucker Martin.
New Jersey and Virginia are the only states electing governors this year.
Pawlenty is the latest Republican governor to campaign with McDonnell in Virginia. Others include Louisiana's Bobby Jindal and Mississippi's Haley Barbour.
McDonnell faces Democrat R. Creigh Deeds, who has received campaign and fundraising help from President Barack Obama as well as Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, who doubles as Democratic National Chairman.
