Locally-produced TV shows for kids, which aired in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, will be celebrated tonight at the Heights Theater in Minneapolis. It's a benefit for the Pavek Musuem of Broadcasting in St. Louis Park.
Clips from shows like "Axel and his Dog," "T.N. Tatters," "Lunch with Casey" and "Clancy and Willie" will be shown. Some of the actors who appeared in those programs will also be on hand.
One of those actors is Allan Lotsberg. He played Willie Ketchem, the sidekick to Clancy the Cop, played by John Gallos. They starred in "Clancy and Willie."
Lotsberg told Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer that most of the shows were broadcast live and unscripted.
