Minnesota Orchestra Music Director Osmo Vanska will remain in Minnesota for another four years.
The Minnesota Orchestra Association announced today the popular conductor has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis through the 2014-2015 season.
In a release from the orchestra, Vanska said he has been impressed since his arrival in 2003 by the musicians' desire to work hard.
"We have more that we would like to achieve, and I'm happy to put down deeper roots in the Twin Cities, which is a very good place to live and to play music," Vanska said.
The Minnesota Orchestra has drawn national and international acclaim during six seasons so far under Vanska's baton.
He's led three critically successful European tours, and three regional tours. He's recorded all of Beethoven's symphonies, and expanded the orchestra's committment to its educational outreach.
