U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd says defense company Alliant Techsystems, based in Minneapolis, has been awarded a $31 million contract for construction work at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in West Virginia.
The contract announced Tuesday calls for the company, known as ATK, to complete anti-terrorism upgrades at the lab in Rocket Center, W.Va.
Byrd's office says the contract also covers a lab building and a test range for weapons navigation and control equipment.
Besides aerospace and defense products, ATK sells ammunition, among other things.
