"Do as I say, not necessarily as I do!"
You might hear Harry Manx say that, since he dropped out of high school to work as a sound technician in blues night clubs in Toronto. Harry was born on the Isle of Man, but was raised in Canada. His exposure to the blues heavily influenced his songwriting career.
So did his travel around Europe, Japan, India, and Brazil. His fascination with Indian music led to his study with Indian musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.
Now he blends the music of the east and the west into a unique style which he sings and plays on an instrument called the Mohan veena -- a 20-stringed cross between the sitar and guitar.
Harry Manx stopped by the Radio Heartland studios to play music and talk about his new album, "Bread and Buddha."
Songs performed: "Rueben's Train," "Make Way for The Living," and "Can't Be Satisfied."
