A Fort Stewart soldier has been given more time to prepare for his trial on murder charges in the fatal shootings of a superior and a fellow U.S. soldier in Iraq.
A military judge agreed Tuesday to move back the court-martial for Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich to June 7, 2010. He had initially been scheduled to stand trial in March.
Bozicevich, of Minneapolis, could face the death penalty if convicted of murder in the slayings of his squad leader, Staff Sgt. Darris Dawson, and Sgt. Wesley Durbin at a joint U.S.-Iraqi patrol base south of Baghdad in Sept. 2008.
Bozicevich's attorney, Charles Gittins, said he needs more time to identify expert witnesses and get them approved by prosecutors.
