An explosion at a grain elevator shook the southeastern Minnesota town of Pine Island on Wednesday.
Fire crews were called to the Farm Country Co-op around 1:45 p.m. They quickly knocked down the flames but continued to spray water on the elevator for more than an hour.
There were no injuries, and Pine Island Fire Chief Patrick Pike says the cause isn't clear. He says the tower where the fire started is called a leg, and is used to transport grain.
The general manager of the elevator, Noel Frana, says he doesn't have a cost estimate on the damages, which he says need to be repaired quickly because they're trying to get ready for fall harvest.
