Delays expected on I-494 over weekend due to lane closures

Motorists will encounter delays due to lane closures on I-494 in Bloomington and Richfield this weekend.

Eastbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane Friday at 8 p.m. and will close completely at 10 p.m. Eastbound I-494 will reopen Sunday at 9 a.m.

Westbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane Friday at 10 p.m. All westbound lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. on Saturday.

A posted detour will direct eastbound I-494 motorists to northbound I-35W, to eastbound Hwy 62, to southbound Hwy 77 and back to I-494.

State transportation officials say the closures are necessary as crews near completion of the Lyndale Avenue bridge spanning I-494.
