Minn. lawmakers get rundown on stimulus for energy

Minnesota lawmakers are getting a feel for the way federal stimulus dollars are being deployed for energy projects.

Legislative committees with oversight over energy policy gather Friday for an update. They will hear from the state Office of Energy Security.

Nationwide, some $37 billion is going into energy system upgrades. The money is supporting goals as big as a modernized power grid to as small as tax credits toward window replacement in homes.

Schools and government agencies are in line for stimulus money to make buildings more energy efficient.
