DFL Senator Amy Klobuchar says Congress is awaiting a recommendation from President Obama on the next steps for the U.S. in Afghanistan.
The president is due back in Washington from his Asian trip later this week. As soon as the president announces his plan, Klobuchar said Congress will call in experts to examine the options.
""I think when you look back to what happened in Iraq when President Bush made a very fast decision based on some information that wasn't good, you can understand why President Obama wants to stand back and look at this," she said. "At the same time, the time is coming where we need a strategic decision and recommendation to Congress."
Klobuchar said she will make a decision about what she thinks needs to be done in Afghanistan after she hears the president's recommendation and reaction from military and diplomatic experts.
