A former Crow Wing County prosecutor who was running as a Republican for Minnesota attorney general now says he's not necessarily out of the race.
John "Jack" Graham had previously filed campaign paperwork. Then he told The Assoicated Press on Tuesday he had withdrawn his candidacy and intended to disband the campaign account.
Later Tuesday, however, he told the Brainerd Dispatch he was having second thoughts about withdrawing after receiving a call from his campaign lawyer, who told him his committee opposes him quitting.
Democrats have held the office for almost four decades, with sitting Attorney General Lori Swanson three years into her first term.
The 69-year-old Graham had run for the job before. He unsuccessfully sought the GOP endorsement in 1998. Graham served as Crow Wing's county attorney in the early 1990s as part of a 42-year legal career.
