Al and Susan Thill of St. Croix Falls were driving to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico last week, as they've done for the last nine years.

But when they reached the north central Mexican state of Durango on Thursday, their annual trip took a turn for the worst.

Gunmen chased down their vehicle, shot Al Thill in the arm and threatened Susan by pointing a gun at her head until she turned over the keys to the car.

MPR News talked to Susan Thill about the ordeal.
