Death of teen found in snowbank investigated

The death of a northern Minnesota teenager, found unresponsive in a snow bank, is under investigation.

Clearwater County Attorney Jeanine Brand says some of the 15-year-old's friends admitted they were all drinking alcohol at another friend's house and then dropped the teen off at his home in the early morning hours of Jan. 16.

Jared Gilbertson's father found his son in the snow bank outside their home near Shevlin later that morning. First responders were called and tried to revive the boy. He was rushed to Clearwater County Memorial Hospital.

KKCQ radio reports Gilbertson died later after being airlifted to a hospital in Fargo, N.D.
