The Minnesota State Patrol says a fatal charter bus crash on Interstate 90 last year narrowly missed being much worse.
Details about the Nov. 18 crash, about six miles west of Austin, are contained in a Minnesota State Patrol report released Thursday. Its contents were reported in the Post-Bulletin of Rochester.
The report says when the Strain Motor Coach Company bus veered into oncoming traffic on the freeway, it barely missed colliding with an oncoming semitrailer.
Two people died and three were seriously injured in the crash on the way back from a day trip to an Iowa casino. It was attributed to a medical emergency in which driver Edwin Erickson lost consciousness. In December, the Freeborn County attorney said he would not face criminal charges.
