Minnesota's conservation officers have been patrolling the state's frozen lakes for more than a month now, and they're seeing some patterns of violations by ice anglers.
The Department of Natural Resources says the three most common violations its officers are seeing are anglers with too many lines in the water, no fishing licenses in their possession, and those who exceed their limits.
Minnesota anglers are allowed to use two lines in the winter, except on trout lakes where only one line is allowed.
The DNR is urging anglers to take a little extra time to familiarize themselves with the other regulations that are relevant to the lakes they're fishing as well. ---
