Minn. lawmaker wants to restrict lobbyists

A Minnesota lawmaker will try again to place restrictions on the transition from lawmaker to lobbyist.

A Senate committee planned to hear Democratic Sen. John Marty's plan Friday. It would require legislators, agency heads and constitutional officers to wait at least two years after holding those positions before becoming lobbyists.

This isn't the first time Marty has proposed such limitations.

The gubernatorial candidate has been an outspoken opponent the so-called revolving door and refuses lobbyist campaign contributions besides.

The Senate Committee on State and Local Government is the first of many steps the bill must head through to become law.
