A former mail carrier has been sentenced to eight months in prison for stealing mail from the Ronald McDonald House and other addresses in Minneapolis.
Timothy J. Krolick was also ordered Wednesday to pay $1,350 in restitution to the house, where families live while their children receive medical treatment.
The 30-year-old Minneapolis man had pleaded guilty earlier to one count of mail theft, but prosecutors say he admitted stealing mail from at least 250 victims to get cash, mostly around the University of Minnesota.
At least one other local postal employee has admitted stealing mail recently. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of three to four years for Douglas A. Parkes of St. Michael, who admitted stealing nearly 16,000 Best Buy reward certificates to buy about $200,000 in merchandise.
