Police say a man using false accreditation was able to get within several yards of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden before being arrested at the Olympics' opening ceremony.
Cpl. Joe Taplin of the Olympics security task force says the man was stopped when he got about 12 rows from where Biden was sitting in the VIP section at BC Place Stadium.
Taplin says the man was escorted into a hallway, tried to flee, and then was apprehended again. He says the man has been handed over to Vancouver police department, which is not recommending charges at this time but "believe mental health issues were a contributing factor."
Taplin says Biden was not in danger at any time.
CTV first reported the news.
