St. Paul residents are invited to offer their thoughts Thursday night on what they'd like to see in their next police chief.
Thursday night's community meeting will be the second opportunity for residents to weigh in. A similar discussion was held Tuesday.
A search committee is looking to narrow the field of candidates to replace John Harrington, whose term ends June 30. The panel will spend the next two months interviewing candidates and will then recommend five finalists to Mayor Chris Coleman. The public will have a chance to meet the finalists in late April.
The mayor is expected to nominate a new chief in late May.
Harrington, a 33-year veteran of the police department, announced in December that he would not seek another term.
Thursday's meeting is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the El Rio Vista Recreation Center, 179 E. Robie Street.
