A St. Paul man has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for a drunken-driving crash that injured five, including an unborn child.
Thirty-year-old David R. Hardaway apologized Thursday during his sentencing in Ramsey County District Court, saying he knew he wasn't supposed to be driving. He had pleaded guilty in January.
His license had been canceled and he had two prior drunken-driving convictions. His friend told police he and Hardaway had been drinking brandy and smoking marijuana before Hardaway drove and ran a stop sign on Aug. 12, hitting another car.
Everyone in the car was injured, including 23-year-old Danyel Anderson, who was eight months pregnant. Her child, A'NaeThony, was deprived of oxygen and is now 6 months old and disabled.
