Minnesota House DFL leaders say they are ready to vote today to override Governor Pawlenty's recent veto of a health care bill affecting thousands of low-income adults. The original bill to extend General Assistance Medical Care benefits passed both houses with bipartisan majorities, but Republicans now say they will stand behind Tim Pawlenty's veto. At least three House Republicans would have to vote to override the veto for the health care bill to pass.
After the GAMC showdown, lawmakers have to deal with disagreements over the nearly-vetoed bonding bill, and will learn if the $1.2 billion budget deficit that they still need to fix has grown any bigger. Tim Pugmire is tracking all the action from the Capitol.
