The superintendent of the Houston schools in southeastern Minnesota is leaving amid concerns about his involvement with a private online learning company.

Houston Public Schools spokeswoman Kelley Stanage tells the Post-Bulletin of Rochester that Kim Ross has announced he'll leave when his contract expires June 30.

Earlier this month, local school board members expressed concerns about Ross' role in Ambient Learning, which he created with another district employee.

Some residents say they're concerned that Ross' work with Ambient was a conflict and feared the company would compete with the district's online programs.

Earlier this month, Ross told the board he had resigned from Ambian and was no longer involved with it.
