Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is backing state Sen. Tarryl Clark in a contested Democratic primary for Congress against Dr. Maureen Reed, a former Independence party candidate for lieutenant governor.
Clark and Reed are facing off in an August primary after Clark won the DFL endorsement on Saturday.
The winner will challenge Republican incumbent Michele Bachmann in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District. The district covers all or most of Anoka, Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, Washington and Wright counties.
