An official with the U.S. Department of Justice visits Minneapolis Wednesday to speak about rape and sexual violence on college campuses.
Assistant Attorney General Laurie O. Robinson will lead a panel discussion at the University of Minnesota.
The visit comes as Justice Department officials tour college campuses nationwide to mark the 15th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act. The 1994 law aimed to eliminate violence against women and dedicated money for women's shelters and law-enforcement training.
Federal studies show as many as one in four college women have been the victims of rape or attempted rape, but colleges and universities have uneven responses to sexual violence on campus.
Joining Robinson on the panel are members of the university's sexual assault response team and other violence prevention experts.
