Minneapolis has approved the state's top human rights officer to lead the city's Department of Civil Rights.

The city council unanimously approved Velma Korbel as the next director of the city's Civil Rights Department. She currently serves as Commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.

To talk about the job before her in Minneapolis, Velma Korbel joined All Things Considered on the phone.
