It's Juror Appreciation Week in Minnesota, and the state's Judicial Branch is using this time to thank those who have answered the call to jury duty.
State Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Magnuson says Minnesotans respond to jury summonses at a consistently high rate, and it's important to recognize the dedication of those who report for jury service.
During the week, Hennepin County District Court staffers will decorate the jury assembly room. Jury staffers will wear buttons that say "Jurors Make It Work," and they'll provide games about jury service and the courts.
Each year, the Minnesota Judicial Branch gets names of citizens from driver's licenses, state ID cards, and voter registrations and compiles that information onto one list. Individuals are then randomly selected by computer to appear for jury duty.
