The Minnesota Department of Transportation says commuters who use the Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis should expect delays as crews wash and paint the piers on the still-new span.
The work is expected to run Tuesday and Wednesday. MnDOT says the right lane and its shoulder will be closed between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the left lane and its shoulder will be closed between 1:30 and 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The ramps to and from University Avenue will remain open.
The 35W bridge has been in operation since September of 2008, when it opened to replace the bridge that collapsed in August of 2007.
