Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has wrapped up his stop in Afghanistan and is now planning to visit wounded troops in Germany.
Pawlenty said he met with Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. ambassador Karl Eikenberry while in Afghanistan. He says the purpose of his trip was to meet Minnesota soldiers and gain a better understanding of the military mission.
He said Saturday he's impressed by how hard the soldiers have been working for their country.
On an early-morning call with reporters Pawlenty was asked whether he thought the Afghanistan war was winnable.
He said progress has been made but there's still work to be done. He says military leaders there feel they've stopped the enemy's momentum, and now the goal is to turn the momentum in the United States' favor.
