Family members say the 17-year-old fatally shot in north Minneapolis over the weekend was released from juvenile detention a month ago and was trying to escape his old life.
Charles Kentrell Jones was walking home about 10 p.m. Saturday when he was shot multiple times. His body was found in an alley.
Witnesses told KSTP-TV a neighbor rushed to the scene, held Jones and prayed with him. His family says Jones was a good person who got caught up in a dangerous life.
His death is the 33rd homicide in Minneapolis this year.
