An 18-year-old Winona State University student was found dead Sunday near Fountain City, Wis., after apparently falling during a hike, university officials announced.
Law enforcement officials say the fall that killed Jasper Youngren, of Carlton, Minn. appears accidental.
No other details were released Monday. Buffalo County authorities are investigating.
Youngren enrolled at WSU this fall and lived on campus.
"We ask the entire WSU community to hold Jasper’s family and friends in your thoughts,” said Connie Gores, vice president for Student Life and Development.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
