President Obama has said “America cannot lead in the 21st century unless we have the best-educated, most competitive workforce in the world.”
To that end, his administration aims to make the United States the country with the highest percentage of college graduates in the world by 2020. Right now, about 30% of the population over age 25 have completed at least a bachelor’s degree.
Do we have the capacity to increase this percentage of college graduates? Who will pay for it and will it be the quality education needed to attract the brightest students from around the globe?
Stephen Smith will discuss how American higher education can thrive in the 21st century with University of Minnesota President Bob Bruininks.
