Minn. faith groups gather for prayer service

Religious leaders from a variety of local faith groups are gathering in Minneapolis for a service in response to recent high-profile cases of anger directed at Muslims.

The Minnesota Council of Churches planned Tuesday night's service which will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis starting at 7 p.m. Participants include clergy and spiritual figures from Minnesota Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Native American and other traditions.

Former Minnesota Gov. Al Quie will deliver opening remarks. The Council of Churches initiated plans for the service after recent flare-ups over plans to build a Muslim mosque near Ground Zero in New York City and plans by a Florida minister, later canceled, to burn a Quran.
