Across the country, Republicans are looking to gain a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives during next week's mid-term election. In order to do that, they need to knock off some incumbent Democrats.
In Minnesota's 1st Congressional District, Republican challenger Randy Demmer is hoping to benefit from the national wave of anti-incumbent fever and defeat Democratic Congressman Tim Walz. And both national Republicans and Democrats have poured money into the race making it one worth watching.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Minnesota Public Radio News reporter Liz Baier who spoke about that race and other issues in southern Minnesota. Baier spoke from our MPR bureau in Rochester.
