A Cloquet man has reeled in a winner with his painting of a walleye about to strike a leech and jig.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has chosen Stuart Nelson's painting as the winner of this year's walleye stamp contest.
The image will appear on the stamp that comes out next spring. Money from sales of the stamp go toward stocking programs. Nelson doesn't get prize money but retains rights to the image.
Nelson, who is retired, tells the Duluth News Tribune he paints a little every day using acrylics.
