Congress is on the verge of passing the first major overhaul of America's food safety laws since the 1930s. The Senate is considering a version of the reform today. The House passed a more stringent bill last year, but it's the Senate version that's expected to take precedence.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Dr. Michael Osterholm. He's been following the proposed legislation closely. Osterholm directs the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, and he's a leading national advocate for stronger food safety regulation.
