Verizon, the nation's largest wireless carrier, says it will roll out its 4G high-speed data service in the Twin Cities and 37 other markets this Sunday.

Verizon executive Tony Malone says the speedier, fourth generation network will enable 4G devices to cruise the Internet as fast or faster than what most folks get at home or work over a wired connection.

"How people connect, how they run their un their businesses how they live their lives will all be enhanced through this unbelievably fast, network that we're launching on Sunday," Malone said.

Verizon will offer two service plans: $50 a month for 5 gigabytes and $80 a month for ten gigabytes. Initially, the only 4G devices available will be USB modems for laptops.

Verizon says it will offer 4G smart phones by the middle of next year. T-Mobile and Sprint have already launched 4G networks in the Twin Cities and other markets.
