Now that the University of Minnesota has hired Jerry Kill to replace Tim Brewster as head football coach, I've been surfing the Web to see how the other Big Ten coaches are doing and earning.
First off, the use of this site might not be optimal, as it's not affiliated with any major sports source or sports-news outlet. That said, a number of figures seem to check out with other sources, including the Indianapolis Star, and its format appears to allow a quick, apples-to-apples comparison of a broad array of stats collected at the same point in time. (And compiling all that info from original sources would take more time than I have.)
So that should at least give us some rough comparisons.
Click the chart -- or click here -- to view the chart in its true size.
Also, here's what the site has on Kill. (I'm trying to get his new contract compensation details.)
The site doesn't have compensation figures for Northwestern's Fitzgerald or Wisconsin's Bielema, but the Star -- whose other coach compensation figures match that of the chart -- puts Fitzgerald at $750,000 and Bielema at $1.48 million.
In any case, please let me know if you have a better source. I'll sniff around some more in the meantime.
