In a recent questionnaire on Minnesotans' views of two-year colleges, Lynda Milne of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system said to make no mistake: Two-year colleges are no cakewalk.
Q: What kinds of students should attend community colleges?
A: Those with strong motivation and goals: either to transfer to to gain work skills and credentials. They should also be prepared to work hard in community college. Too many students believe they can work full-time and take a full course load. They usually end up having a great deal of trouble.
