A group pushing to reform the national gun background check system stopped at Minneapolis city hall Friday.

The group Mayors Against Illegal Guns launched the Fix Gun Checks tour around the country, following the mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona earlier this year. Members of the group say it's too easy for people who shouldn't have guns to get them by slipping through gaps in state and federal laws.

Omar Samaha's sister was killed in the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting. He says states should close loopholes that make it possible for almost anyone to buy weapons at gun shows.

"I went undercover with 20/20 and I purchased 10 guns in one hour without even my ID shown," Samaha said. "It was as easy as going and buying a candy bar or bag of chips from a convenience store."

Minnesota law permits a private seller to sell a gun without conducting a background check, whether it's at a gun show or not.
