US secretary of labor set to visit St. Paul

U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis is scheduled to visit a St. Paul manufacturing company later this week to highlight the department's efforts to provide workers with the skills they need for a green economy.

The department announced Monday that Solis will tour the Viking Drill & Tool plant, which makes high-quality cutting tools, on Wednesday afternoon.

Viking is part of the department's GreenPOWER program and its workers are undergoing training in conjunction with Dunwoody College of Technology to upgrade their skills, increase recycling and improve the efficiency of the company's manufacturing processes.
