A complaint filed Thursday in Hennepin County alleges the CEO of air ambulance nonprofit Life Link III failed to pay taxes for several years.

R. Carter McComb was arrested as Minnesota Department of Revenue agents searched his office at Life Link.

McComb worked as an independent consultant but served as the Minneapolis company's interim CEO.

The complaint alleges the 64-year-old dodged Minnesota income taxes since 2002 by claiming residency in Florida, which doesn't have a personal income tax.

Life Link spokesman Rick Rambo says the nonprofit isn't implicated in McComb's arrest.

"Mr. McComb's contract with Life Link III was through a third-party entity established by Mr. McComb. The payments were made to his company and or him since 2007 so we're still trying to pull back a bunch of files all the way back to 2007 to evaluate that process as well on our side."

MPR News could not reach McComb. Rambo says McComb has been suspended as Life Link's CEO. The company will continue to operate as normal.

"Mr. McComb is currently suspended from all activities at Life Link III pending the outcome of the investigation. And our leadership structure excluding Mr. McComb remains intact and the company remains focused 100 percent on flight and ground operations."
