Regis Corp. will acknowledge salon workers' union rights

Regis Corporation has reached an agreement with the National Labor Relations Board over alleged anti-union activities.

Regis had shown an anti-union video to workers at 6,500 of the salons it owns, including Supercuts and Cost Cutters stores. The company also requested that workers sign cards promising they would not sign union authorization cards in the future. Six formal complaints were brought against the company for these actions. Marlin Osthus with the National Labor Relations Board says the settlement consolidates the complaints.

"The principle part of the settlement is Regis agreeing to revoke and expunge the forms employees signed, agreeing to post a notice advising workers of their rights under the national Labor Relations Act at the salons."

Regis must also pay for the production of a new video that explains workers' right to organize. It will be shown at the corporation's 6,500 salons.

Regis Corporation says it is "comfortable with the agreement" and is complying with its terms.
