A 40-year-old war relic is being brought painstakingly back to life by a group of Minnesota military veterans.
Hundreds of hours of volunteer time over the past year have gone into restoring a Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter flown in the Vietnam War. An icon of the war, the helicopter will be featured in the "1968 Exhibit" opening this fall at The Minnesota History Center.
Currently, the helicopter sits under bright work lights in the center of an otherwise dimly lit warehouse in east St. Paul.
